About

Why Online News Squared?

Online News Squared was begun by Scott Anderson in late 2003 to help Tribune Interactive staffers keep up with trends in the online news industry. Over time, the audience grew and access to the blog was expanded to other parts of Tribune Company. In mid-2005, Online News Squared was opened up to the public in hopes it would be a resource for the online news industry in general (and still one for Tribune, of course, Which is why there sometimes will be items that may tend to skew more to Tribune’s sphere of interest). Squared is usually updated weekday mornings and sometimes during the day if there is time and/or anything new. During travel and vacations and some days when Squared is in the weeds with his day job, updates run from none to sporadic.

What’s The Name Mean?

This is News About Online News. Or Online News News. See? Two News-es. Kind of like squared? Yeah, yeah, I know if you have to explain it probably doesn’t work. But we’re in too deep now to change. Deal with it.
